The 17-4PH stainless is an improved version of the 15-5PH. This finer structure was achieved by the remelting procedure. The delicate structure increases the material's strength. The material has low temperature hardening as well as good manufacturing performance and excellent corrosion resistance. It can be processed either in the solution annealing stage or the final heat-treatment state. Heat treatment at different temperatures improves the strength and ductility.
Any conditions are acceptable for processing 15-5PH. The alloy must first be slightly formed under the condition of average. It is then weld using techniques such as protection fusion or resistance method. The material was heated at 1038degC (1900degF), then cooled with air for half an h. It is then followed by annealing the alloy at 1038degC for 1 hour and cold working.
