What are Ni-Ti Alloys?

The purchasing pace at the demand end of the international thermal coal market continues to slow down and the international thermal coal price continues to decline. Prices for thermal coal at major international ports continued to fall last week as buyers in Europe slowed in recent days for April, coupled with weaker-than-expected import demand from End users in China. According to China Coal Market net monitoring:  Australia Newcastle port thermal coal price index was 253 USD/ton, compared with 309.02 USD/ton, down 56.02 USD/ton, down 18.13%. South Africa's Port Richards thermal coal price Index was $264.5 / mt, down the US $62.72 / mt or 19.17% from US $327.22 / mt. The European ARA Tri-port thermal coal price Index was $281.8 / ton. Does the price of thermal coal in major international ports continue to decline to affect the price of the nitinol powder?

What are Ni-Ti Alloys?

Ni-Ti alloy, also known as Nitinol, is a metallic alloy of nickel and titanium in which the two elements are present in roughly equal atomic percentages. Different alloys are named according to the percentage of nickel by weight; For example, Nitinol 55 and Nitinol 60. It exhibits shape memory effect and superelasticity at different temperatures.

Nitinol alloys exhibit two closely related and unique properties: shape memory effect and superelasticity (also known as pseudo-elasticity). Shape memory is the ability of Nitinol to withstand deformation at a certain temperature, retain its deformed shape when external forces are removed, and then restore its original undeformed shape when heated above its "transition temperature". Superelasticity is the ability of a metal to withstand large deformations and return to its undeformed shape immediately after the removal of external loads. Nitinol has 10-30 times the deformability of a normal metal and returns to its original shape. Whether Nitinol has shape memory or superelasticity depends on whether it is above the transition temperature of a particular alloy. Below the transition temperature, it exhibits shape memory effects, above which it exhibits superelasticity.

What are Shape Memory Alloys?

"Memory metal" is also called "shape memory alloy", is a special alloy material, mainly in nickel titanium alloy.

It can be plastic deformation like plastic at a certain temperature. But at a certain temperature, it can be restored to its original state, with a certain "memory".

The deformation recovery ability of shape memory alloy is attributed to the thermoelastic martensitic transformation in the material during deformation.

Shape memory alloys are known for their excellent memory, flexibility and plasticity. In addition, it has good wear resistance, fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance.

What are Shape Memory Alloys Used For?

Shape memory alloys are widely used in aerospace, mechatronics, biomedicine, bridge construction, automobile industry, and daily life.

Automobile industry

The use of memory metal alloy as a radial material, can enhance the bearing capacity of the tire, super elastic characteristics also reduce the possibility of tire burst, improve driving safety.

The air bags in the seat, under certain pressure, the waist rest on the seat can be perfectly fitted to the driver or passenger's waist.

In addition, memory alloys are used in the manufacture of actuators to make car trunks easier to close, and in the manufacture of valves to control noise and vibration in engines and improve noise, vibration and vibration roughness.

Aeronautics and astronautics

It is used to develop lightweight, quiet, and efficient designs. The variable-section fan nozzles, shock absorbers and actuators are all made of metal alloys. These devices are austenitic at normal temperatures and convert to martensite (and the desired shape) as they cool due to temperature changes caused by airflow around the aircraft or changes in ambient temperature during normal flight.

Building

Memory alloys help to prestress Bridges or buildings. On a smaller scale, shape memory materials can be used to enhance the reliability of pipe fittings in piping systems.

Medical

The application of memory alloys in biomedicine could reduce the need for medical intervention. For example, medical stents can be inserted into arteries to improve blood flow in a minimally invasive way in patients with heart disease. Micro-actuators and artificial muscles rely on memory alloys to create robotic prosthetic organs that help amputees move more freely.

The United States urges the U.N. Security Council to impose additional sanctions on North Korea in response to its latest ballistic missile launch, including a ban on tobacco and oil exports to North Korea and a blacklist of the Lazarus hacking group.

The United States circulated the draft to the 15 members of the Security Council this week. It was not immediately clear if or when a vote would take place. A resolution requires nine "yes" votes and no vetoes from Russia, China, France, Britain, or the United States.

Russia and China have already voiced opposition to tightening sanctions in response to Pyongyang's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile last month -- the first since 2017.

U.S. and South Korean officials and analysts also say there are growing indications that North Korea may soon conduct its first nuclear weapons test since 2017, too.

The U.S. -drafted U.N. resolution would expand the ban on ballistic missile launches to include cruise missiles or "any other delivery system capable of delivering a nuclear weapon."

The deal would halve crude oil exports to North Korea to 2 million barrels a year and refined oil exports to 250,000 barrels a year. The resolution also seeks to ban North Korea's export of "fossil fuels, mineral oils, and their distilled nitinol powder are estimated to be influenced by international political situation changes.
